Lion’s Mane coffee is growing as a trend, thanks to many popular influencers, the relatively recent phenomenon of mushrooms in coffee is finding real mainstream acceptance.
Unfortunately though, while there are several products out there which will combine coffee and Lion’s Mane together in one package, a lot of ingredient quality can end up being sacrificed for this small bit of added convenience.
If you want the best coffee, brewing directly from the grounds and drinking while hot and fresh is practically a must. As soon as the steaming water begins flowing through your grounds, it immediately begins releasing tiny molecules, aromatics and phenols that had been locked up in the bean. These tiny molecules are responsible for the rich depth of flavors and scents that we love so much about coffee. No sooner do they release though, they begin oxidizing, and all that goodness starts to fade. It’s the reason why no one wants to drink old coffee, and why instant coffees just aren’t the same.
The problem with blends that add Lion’s Mane to ground coffee though, is we know from research that only some of the molecules within Lion’s Mane are water soluble. Sadly this means that if you’re brewing coffee grounds with Lions Mane powder mixed in, you’re almost certainly leaving a considerable amount behind with the soggy grounds in your filter.
For some, the solution to this is premixed packets, which contain Lion’s Mane powder combined with some variant of instant coffee. But here again, even assuming that the Lion’s Mane they source is of high quality and properly dosed, the quality of the instant coffee it selfwill rarely hold up.
So here’s what we recommend; select your favorite roast and brew a fresh cup of coffee from high quality beans. Then you can easily twist open our Lion’s Mane capsules, and pour a full serving of Lion’s Mane powder right from them, directly into your coffee. You’ll want to be sure to stir it though, as some components of the Lion’s Mane powder aren’t water soluble and will tend to sink.
When you’re done drinking, you should double check to be sure that you’re not leaving any at the bottom of your mug. Giving what’s left a quick swish before your last sip is usually all you need to do to avoid this.
Running late and don’t have time to brew coffee? You can always just take our capsules the old fashioned way, ensuring you’ll never have to skip out on your Lion’s Mane! And besides, there’s a skinny latte at Starbucks with your name on it
